I live in rural southern Tennessee, where I write, build software, and try to make myself useful.
I’m a proud uncle, a devoted college football fan, and a golfer who loves the game despite being terrible at it.
Writing The Inconvenient Human
It got personal.
I began The Inconvenient Human expecting to make an argument about human nature. The conversations behind it kept turning toward my own life.
I found myself writing about how easily I could let a political label stand in for knowing someone, and how differently that felt when someone did it to me. I had to look at what I asked of loyalty, and what I let it excuse.
Writing the book was an eye-opener. Some of what it brought up still needs time. I don’t assume every feeling I examine is a problem to fix.

Family, work,
and one more thing.
My family gives my drive a purpose. They are why I keep reaching, building, and trying to leave things better than I found them.
I enjoy making things: a thought becoming a paragraph, an idea becoming an application someone can use. I’m ambitious and stubborn, which often looks like working on one more thing when I should close the laptop and be where I am.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering and an MBA in Information Technology Management, and I have served Tullahoma as an elected official.
